I couldn't really tell a difference between the audio quality recorded. Like a gosh darn FOOL, I sold the RME in a "I hate music" phase and when I realized I was dumb for selling my audio interface and needed to replace it, I ended up in the KA6 range.ĭon't get me wrong.the KA6 was great.

If your budget was $200 US the Babyface is only $300 more. I want to go with RME UFX but that's because I need the inputs and low latency monitoring.įor you, I would honestly recommend the RME Babyface. The case alone disassembled into about 4-6 pieces then it's two boards mounted on each other via standoffs inside.Īnyway.I decided to wait until I can spend $1500 on my next interface. Plus putting the thing back together is like a complicated puzzle. There's a slight chance it could still be soldered in but I may have burned the board. I then proceeded to take it all apart in attempts to solder a new USB port in, but it was harder than I thought.ĭamn industrial solder wouldn't melt off plus I'm not very good. My KA6 fell off a desk and the USB port went out. so can't really compare it to those pieces nor comment their reliability. However I'd note, I haven't tested bunch of newer interfaces. Works well with Mac OS, Windows and Linux. Which isn't really given thing for many other USB interfaces. Latency is higher, but it's reliable enough for live work or performance (no random issues with bus power, enumerations, disconnections) and reasonable performance, when working under load even at quite lowly specced notebooks.

With great attention to details and reliable implementation IMO/IME.īabyface has completely custom solution implemented on top of Xilinx FPGA.Īs I wrote to other threads, BF or BF Pro is for me king of portable interfaces.īut when there wasn't budget for it, I had very good previous experience with NI KA6.

Komplete audio 6 control panel drivers#
Hardware and likely also drivers (I'm not sure, what's done by NI developers itself) was made by German company Caiaq. operational logic (LEDs, meters, buttons) etc. All NI interfaces, which I've seen, had rather standard XMOS microcontrollers. However I'm not sure, where you've sourced the information about similarities with Babyface. It's still my go-to interface for Live use at that price point and what I would still recommend to you.I agree, KA6 is good interface at its price range. Komplete Audio 6 uses the same USB chipset and binary blob for basic i/o duties as RME in their Babyface (at least the original non-pro, not sure about the Babyface Pro), and so is stellar in terms of stability in my opinion.
